As well as shooting my tests for the Figure Studies series, I have also shot two rolls of black and white medium format film. I have never shot film in the studio before so I didn't know what to expect. It was quite tricky indeed! Getting the composition right within the limited space that a studio is, was the worst thing for me. Having not shot or even look through Mamiya's viewfinder, I forgot how annoying it could get. Finding the focus was hard, too because of the little light in the room. Then, finally, the problem with the lights not going off when taking the picture.
However, absolutely nothing could compare to processing the film itself! Being used to doing it through a processing machine, I haven't traditionally processed my film in at least 2 years! And I found out that it is certainly something that you need to keep doing in order not to lose the hang of it! I almost cried in the blackness of the darkroom this afternoon whilst trying to put the roll of film on the spool for a very long time.
Unfortunately the film didn't come out too good and I am mostly certain that it is because of my processing. I managed to get a few frames looking more or less okay-ish. These are some of them.
